Government Information Hub

DirectGov is the UK Governments portal for information.  It is aimed at all UK residents but has a specific Disabled People section.

The website is very wide ranging and the Disabled Person section really is a valuable resource.  It is made up of the following 10 sub sections:

Each section covers a specific area and goes into reasonable depth about the subject covered.  I think the site is best thought of as a first stop for the information you need.  It might not go into a lot of detail but in most cases can point you in the right direction.

Unfortunately there are a few occasions when you are referred back to the main part of the site.  This sometimes leads to a feeling of unanswered questions since Disability Issues tend not to be discussed elsewhere on the site.  Don’t be put off though, if you need to know about Blue Badges, Motability, Disability Living Allowance or other benefits, this is a great place to start.  There is also a Blue Badge Map which aims to give information on parking and accessibility in a clear and usable way.  Unfortunately it only covers cities and larger towns at the moment but it is expanding all the time.

Do You Use This Site?

Let us know what you think of DirectGov.  Is there another site that does a better job?  Are there sections that everyone should read?
